George Mason University- Arlington Campus

From onsite computer labs and classrooms to a gala venue for 500+ guests, Founders Hall has an impressive array of meeting and event capabilities. Founders Hall is a resource for the Washington, DC area’s thriving business community. Government agencies, businesses, community groups, and non-profit organizations host events throughout the year at this spacious, modern facility.

The Challenge

George Mason University’s Arlington campus (GMU-Arlington) is located in an urban area with very little parking. The campus’s Founders Hall hosts a variety of business, community, and academic events throughout the year, attracting people from all over the Washington, DC area. The university wanted everyone to know how easy it is to get to events without driving.

The Idea

To provide event attendees with a quick, visual overview of car-free transportation options available to get to GMU-Arlington.

The Solution

We helped GMU-Arlington’s events management team show event attendees – many of whom travel from outside Arlington – how they can easily get to events at the campus car-free. We created an informative video – How to Go Car Free to George Mason University Arlington Campus – that highlights the facility and shows, graphically, Metro rail, bus, biking, and walking options to get there. The video was embedded on several relevant pages of the GMU-Arlington website, and the events management team includes a link to the video in emails about events at Founders Hall.

George Mason University’s Arlington campus is fortunate to be located in an area with great transportation infrastructure including Metro, ART bus, and Bikeshare.
The video from Arlington’s Car-Free Diet initiative is very informative in showing our students, faculty and those attending events at Founders Hall how easy it is to get here without a car. Because there is limited parking at GMU, we always encourage those coming to the Arlington campus to take Metro, a bus, walk, or bike.
Thanks to the Car-Free Diet, we have fewer people asking us where to park and more people arriving on time for their classes or events
